CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — Property owners along Lonesome Road near Davey Woods State Nature Preserve are circulating a petition asking the county to post signage acknowledging the area's nickname as the "Little Smokies of Champaign County."
Supporters say the title is earned by the mature tulip trees and the way fog behaves like it has a publicist.
Opponents say any sign will be shot full of holes within a week, which is how the county shows love.
