MECHANICSBURG — On a Saturday morning thick with early birds and early judgments, one homeowner moved a driveway full of objects of uncertain purpose by assigning them prices that dared you to negotiate — two blocks off Main Street, where serious people already had Hemisphere cups in hand.

“People don’t buy cheap,” she explained. “They buy decided.”

Her husband tried to throw away a box of cables. She priced the box at $3 as “electronics lot” and it vanished into a minivan headed toward US-36.

By noon she was eating like a champion, which in this economy is a medal.
