MECHANICSBURG — Village council spent most of Monday night at the offices on N. Main Street arguing about a proposed radar speed sign near downtown, with one faction calling it a safety upgrade and another calling it “how you end up with a Chipotle.”
Resident Earl Phelps warned that once you start displaying people’s speed in bright red by Main and Sandusky, “next thing you know there’s a parking garage and nobody waves.”
Supporters noted that people currently treat the 25 mph zone past Frosty’s Pizza as a suggestion written by cowards.
A compromise was floated: install the sign but only flash for out-of-county plates on US-36. Legal counsel asked everyone to please stop talking.
