ST. PARIS — Local father Mike Renner announced to his family group chat that his fantasy baseball team is “right there in it,” a technical description of being three games out of the last playoff spot with no path that doesn’t require divine intervention and a Reds collapse.

“I’ve been managing this roster like a general,” Renner said from a folding chair outside Luna Belle’s Sweet Shoppe on S. Springfield Street, while leaving a starting pitcher on the bench for the third straight week by accident.

His children asked if this was the same league he spends every Sunday morning yelling at after church. He said yes, and that they wouldn’t understand legacy — or the Falcons booster chat that spawned the league.
