URBANA — The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office issued a seasonal advisory Monday after a string of deer-related fender-benders on county roads and stretches of US-36 and US-68, none of which, deputies noted, involved a deer that “signaled.”
“If you see one, assume there’s a committee,” said a spokesperson. “They travel in groups and have no respect for the posted speed limit near the fairgrounds on Park Avenue.”
Drivers are urged to slow down at dusk, use high beams when safe, and stop telling Facebook the deer “came out of nowhere” when the nowhere was clearly a cornfield toward Rosewood or Mutual.
No tickets were issued to wildlife.
