If Champaign County’s loudest arguments were relocated to a table at TeaBaggers on N. Main Street in Urbana — coffee refilled, sandwich built the way you want it — half of them would end in compromise before anyone made it back to Monument Square.
Our proposal is simple: no public hearing starts until all parties have ordered. You may not amend a motion until the coffee has been refilled. Name-calling is redirected to traffic around the Man on the Monument.
Local government is hard. Late-night / late-afternoon coffee is easy. The Telegram endorses both — especially if someone also brings Mumford’s chips to the table.
